A quick guide to how odlicz.com works, and what everything on the dashboard means.
Polish tax residents owe 19% Belka tax on dividend income. When a foreign broker already withholds tax at source, you can credit that against your Polish tax — capped at the lower of the actual foreign withholding, the tax-treaty rate for that country, or the Polish tax due. We calculate the PLN amounts using the official NBP exchange rate for the day before the pay date (the rate NBP itself uses for this purpose), and the amount shown as "set aside" is simply the Polish tax due minus that foreign tax credit.
Each dividend goes through three stages: upcoming (the ex-dividend date hasn't passed yet, so the payout isn't locked in), qualified (the ex-dividend date has passed — you're entitled to it, but it hasn't been paid), and paid out (the dividend has been paid and the PLN tax figures are final). You can also tap the small "?" next to the Status column for the same explanation in place.
A W-8BEN form (filed with your broker, not with us) reduces the default US withholding tax on dividends from 30% to 15%. Confirm it when adding a US holding — or later from that holding's detail page — and we'll use 15% instead of 30% when suggesting the withholding rate. You can also manually override the suggested rate per holding if your actual situation differs.
Use "+ Add holding" on the dashboard — the ticker autocomplete suggests common tickers, but you can type any symbol; we validate it against our market data provider when you submit. If a ticker isn't supported yet, you'll see a "Request support" option that lets us know there's demand for it. Adding a ticker you already hold adds a new buy transaction to the existing position instead of creating a duplicate.
In-app notifications fire when a dividend becomes upcoming and again once it's paid out. Email notifications are planned but not live yet — the Settings toggle for them is flagged "coming soon".
The Tax Years page groups every paid-out dividend by calendar year and by ticker, so you can see totals for a specific filing year at a glance.
You can export everything we store about you, or permanently delete your account and all associated data, at any time from Settings. See the Privacy Policy for details on what we collect and why.
